Yay for more reasonable electric bills!
The bane of my existance in Lakeland was the tyrannic and oppressive government owned municipality, Lakeland Electric. Never have I seen such a corrupt and ridiculous branch of government, robbing from everyone to levy taxes for the rich land owners, all while fucking up with the Florida Municipal Power Collective to the tune of $100 Million plus.
Knowing that our bills for our very modest 1200 square foot house would always run $400-800, we just planned for it. For 3 years running, we hadn't gotten a single bill less than $300, and that included being a in place with no air conditioning, no heat, and even less space than we have now.
Imagine my surprise when I move to Tampa, run my AC and Heat, plug in all of my same vampire electronics and I get a bill for $133! Including the Setup Fee!
